Taking a sample



Place 20-50 grams of jam/marmalade in a beaker and mix well. Apply the sample onto the prism surface with a spoon.

Measuring Method

Brix in Jams and Marmelades can be measured with MA871 Digital Refractometer described here.

The MA871 is an optical instrument that employs the measurement of refractive index to determine the % Brix of sugar in aqueous solutions.


Clean with lukewarm water after measuring highly viscous samples.
